i guess that was exactly the question.
the logical consequence is: if u let coach pick, he dont cares of starter/backup/reserve, he gives the player time on the court, of whom he thinks hes the best.
so ur player will get the same time on the court, regardless if backup or reserve.

i guess, 'lets coach decide' means, he uses all players for every position. so e.g. at pg he dont uses just the pgs u selected for starter/backup/reserve, the coach uses also other players, if he thinks it is best for the current tactic/matchup.

but i must admit, thats just guessing. i never ever let the coach decide.

lol, I'm not angry, just amused... ;)

This was my question:

What happens if I dont select a backup but only a reserve and i let my coach pick from the depth chart. Does this reserve get less minutes compared to if he were a backup (without a reserve)?

I dont see how you answered that, but maybe its just me and you never meant to answer me... I'm not talking about "let coach decide, in both cases mentioned in the Question I let the coach pick from depth chart

i think the answer is that........
if the setting is not the strctly follow depth chart.....
coach decides who plays what position and when reguardless of back up or reserve status.
i think thats what i understand it to be.

You can run your own experiments and test and post your results.

won't made an difference, if he was backup or reserve.

If you like to give someone .less minutes, better suit him as back up on a non training position, too. That an effective way of reducing minutes, even if you have problems to calculate the exact result in minutes.(he should be able to play the other position too)

except for gameshape, if youmean the extra minutes he gets on a non training position - i hope i understand you right and their is no training on a non training position.
