I'm not saying I would have tanked last season. But perhaps one of the teams that came 5th would have preferred to tank and get this player.

For example I am just promoted to div 2, if I find a great player in the draft I will tank for 8th, if not I will try and come 7th or 6th.
And tanking is not the same as relegating. If you are in div 3 and know you aren't good enough to promote, then it may be a valid option to come 7th and just make sure you buy some great players before the playoffs and make sure you don't relegate.

If you do manage to get a great draftee you can train him up yourself or even sell him for 2 million and that is more than you would have made in a season of div 3.

Ignoring salaries, what I was saying was that out of the players that I have seen with an A+ rating his skills seem quite low in comparison.

There are too many if's in your posts. We are talking about scouting the first player who is 5, A+,5, good height for position. With the new system (ranking) in order to pick first you have to have the worst record. Thus you have to relegate.
Everyone can boost up their rosters before playoffs. I have seen both 6-th place teams relegate in our league.
Training someone means you have to have a training spot available for him. Training draftees (that can't contribute on your league level) means you will have a liabilty in the game you want to get him training minutes.
You can't really ignore salarys, it's what determines the grade of the player shown in draft. How many A+ players have you actually seen out of them all? Have you browsed through atleast Australia and wrote BB-mail to everyone who has 4500+ salary draftee to get their skill distribution?

Certainly that player is on the low end of the range, but he is still in the range.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that an otherwise playoff caliber team tank to get the first pick, but if you're a team that is likely to relegate anyway (like me) and you spot an A+ 18yo 5 ball pot, then you should probably head towards that 1st draft pick.

Personally, I plan on trying to stay up until the allstar break, at which point I will spend all of my scouting points and formulate a plan based on that and where I am in the league.

Jus a general question. Not so much about when this is being implemented specifically... rather if it is definitely being implemented this season... and do I need to worry about adjusting my current scouting rate?

You are missing the point. The point is that there are many circumstances where it would be beneficial to tank to get the number 1 draft pick. I am not talking about the best team in that league tanking, I'm talking about one of the teams that may normally come 5th to 8th. Also, as I said before, this may be a good tactic for teams that are in the bottom league, or teams that are in a high league but know that it will be too tough to compete this season so they tank for the draft pick and spend a season in the lower division before coming back up to try again.

You say you need a training spot for him, however if he is a great draftee then this isn't really a problem. You just sell your worst trainee. And you say it will be hard to compete still, but the point is that you have just relegated, so probably have more money and a better team than almost all of the teams in your new league, so it shouldn't be a problem to train 1 more rookie. And if you think it is, then train him in scrimmages and easy cup games.

I'm obviously not saying I have seen all A+ players, but I have seen hundreds of players that have a higher salary than that. And I have seen half a dozen players that have had A+ ratings and all of those were over 5k salary and 2 were over 6k salary.
I'm sure anyone here would agree that the skills of that player are on the lower end of what you can get with an A+ player.

So what exactly has changed from before? If you are a weak team you might end up at 8-th anyway. Would it sometimes be better to be taking 8-th spot instead 7-th spot? Yes. But there will never be problems with all teams starting to tank all of the sudden. If lower end teams want to tank, so be it. Perhaps there is more than one tanker. That screws it up for the tank attempt teams anyway.
New draft system gives you more options. I'm convinced it's a lot better than it was before.

he doesn't says that it become "normal", but this become a option because you could see the gain better then before.

And naker used this as an example, why picking before the Camp could be useful(when you are going to use it).

TYVM for the one ball rating gents! =P

All i was wondering is that if i'm investing 40k a week (like I am right now) will I be forced to get the 'points' to review players under the new system.

If so I'd rather jus put it at no scounting for now if the new draft system was coming in really late. Since I'm a gambler by nature, I'd prob take random pot shots at scouting players. If i find 3 awesome players fast, then I wouldn't need all the points. Depending on when the new draft system was out.

BAH!
