The changes needed to increase or even sustain the user base at this point, including an app and a massive overhaul of the game itself, are just unrealistic.

Pretty much this. EDIT: Getting rid of a few annoying "features" would be a good start tho.

And if the plan is to let it die, then why not sell it to someone else? It would much so much sense.

Who would touch a rotting corpse at this point? The cow has been milked - probably there is not much money to be made. Plus as far as my understanding is, the game is built with software (databases, flash etc) that soon will be (or already are) outdated and obsolete. Increasing performance issues with the smallest userbase ever, are really bad signs - the site should perform better and faster than ever one should think.

So after all it would probably be the best idea to build sthg. from scratch, which - in this super competitive and fast paced environment of free online games and such a small niche - might not be the best idea.

So what's the point of playing anymore if you guys don't see this going anywhere long term. Might as well quit now and find something else to do with your time instead of wasting it on building your team/trainees/whatever for the future.

Personally I would like to know if the owners/devs share your opinion and Blur's.

That's whats happening right now anyways. But most of those people remain silent and quit without notice - those who speak, try to get involved or offer suggestions to clean the current mess up are ridiculed and obliterated.

I think there is still a chance to turn this around, but only if this policy of bad compromises is abandoned.

Completing tasks to obtain the 'license' in Hattrick does give rewards doesn't it? I did that a long time ago so I don't remember very well, but I think you're required to take certain steps in order to complete it. It's also more interactive than reading a long manual, as it requires you to "do" stuff and see first hand how it works.

I think something like that could be implemented and the devs only need tovbuild the interface, the actual text and even the tasks to be carried out could be designed by a group of GMs/Managers and then translated.

There is (or at least was) a new manager checklist that incorporated some various tasks, though I don't remember any rewards being tied to that. Definitely having that enhanced and rewards implemented for that would be productive, though.

In my opinion this won't change a lot.

Placing the new users in an environment that allows them to be competitive and start with low pressure, thus keeping the motivation on a high level, is the top priority.

Also the key is increased awareness of the game, I got one of my old friends into the game at the start of the season and he is getting into the swing of things, there is a market out there still for this product, we must find a way to tap into it on the cheap.

Fix the training. Fix the training. Fix the training.

The reason the market is bare is because no one trains. It shouldn't take nearly 2 full real time years before an 18 year old is able to compete in the upper levels. So no one is training and the players available are going to continue to dry up. That's is going to kill this game much faster than people think. The good players are declining at a far quicker rate than new ones are being developed.

Rapidly increase the pops in the 18-21 year old years, or make a good portion of the trainees good enough to at least be part of a rotation in D3. With TSP in the 70s and even 80s.

That's the most dire issue that needs attention first and quickly.

I sort of agree and we obviously need more people training but there has to be a way to do it without ruining the game for people who have been training the whole time.

I've been back on BB 18 months, just training. Making it easier for people that don't care about training to produce great players will force managers like myself out of the game. If it saves the game (I still doubt any change other than an app and massive, costly overhaul will do it) then fair enough but I think it will just make it easier for competitive managers to produce great players, reducing the need for middling managers who rely on training to compete.
