Sorry, i haven't read the thread, but, if I estimate 10% of users are supporters to 5000, I will assume net advertisement money is negligible, $40 per year that's $200,000 per year. That, imo, covers 1.5 - 2 people full-time + servers and costs and not much profit. Sure these are estimates but my point is that no one is a millionaire out of this, and how much can you expect from 2 guys working full time? I'm happy with the development and glad the bugs are fixed. BB is worth every penny to me. :)
