You are missing the point. The point is that there are many circumstances where it would be beneficial to tank to get the number 1 draft pick. I am not talking about the best team in that league tanking, I'm talking about one of the teams that may normally come 5th to 8th. Also, as I said before, this may be a good tactic for teams that are in the bottom league, or teams that are in a high league but know that it will be too tough to compete this season so they tank for the draft pick and spend a season in the lower division before coming back up to try again.
You say you need a training spot for him, however if he is a great draftee then this isn't really a problem. You just sell your worst trainee. And you say it will be hard to compete still, but the point is that you have just relegated, so probably have more money and a better team than almost all of the teams in your new league, so it shouldn't be a problem to train 1 more rookie. And if you think it is, then train him in scrimmages and easy cup games.
I'm obviously not saying I have seen all A+ players, but I have seen hundreds of players that have a higher salary than that. And I have seen half a dozen players that have had A+ ratings and all of those were over 5k salary and 2 were over 6k salary.
I'm sure anyone here would agree that the skills of that player are on the lower end of what you can get with an A+ player.
