You underestimate the number of people ready to pay foolish sums
But according to the game manual... that's against the rules??? (you said this is the place to discuss such things)
GAME MANUAL:(http://www.buzzerbeater.com/community/rules.aspx?nav=Rule...)It is against BuzzerBeater rules to bid above market rates on a player.
AND
Furthermore, if someone overbids on a player you have posted on the Transfer List, it is YOUR responsibility to report this overbid to the GMs.
BB allows teams to continuously, and DELIBERATELY,
list + sell players for non-market rates without consequence. And allows teams to fail to report overbids 20+ times without consequence!!!
A $1k scrub being sold for $200,000 to $700,000 is
not market value. Not even close. Unless you want to make a semantic argument that market value is whatever someone is willing to pay. But that means you can't fine anyone... EVER. It means that selling a 30 year old benchwarmer for $10,000,000 is also market value, as someone was willing to pay it.
I think I'm a good GM because I don't ban someone unless he is proven guilty and he still has a chance to appeal after that.
Even criminal court cases have a lower burden of proof than you're requiring. Let alone a civil trial. Circumstantial evidence alone has been enough to give people life in prison. I don't think that requiring a higher burden of proof for cases of BB cheating than for cases of murder makes you a good GM. Sorry. It's one thing to be fair, but another thing to ignore the obvious.
Some teams have even
publicly admitted to multiple accounts + illegitimate transfers & still aren't banned. It's beyond a joke. (Not saying that you personally handled those cases)
