Yeah, I prefer looking on the TL over spending money on draft scouting. It's better to find a decent player for a few thousand rather than spending up to 6 figures for potentially disappointing draftees.

I think you are most definitely correct, I was really hoping for a really nice Prospect to have some fun training up that could be with the team for a long time.... I am hoping my 1st pick is at least an All-Star.... I have 2 good trainees now but if my Draft pick was going to be a high potential with nice starting skills I was going to put my P-All-Star on the TL....

Yeah, I gave up on the draft seasons ago. I had spent way too much scouting, and when the draft was over there wasn't a single player in the draft worth spending more than a few thousand for. The best guy in the draft that season was an A+ 5/5 PG who's OD was awful. Awful OD...….A+ rating. hmmmm

Personally, I don't think he worth half what hes being bid on. Yeah, defense is great, and I can see a situation where he can be a stopper of someone else's scorer, but he will be a complete liability on the offensive side The subpar JS and DR will mean he shoots about 20% if you are lucky, depending on competition of course. The passing will hurt too, although regardless of what his listed position is, he seems more suited to SG.

His age is a problem, too. lets say you end up getting this guy for 500k based on current bid. in two seasons you would be lucky to get half that, in 4 or 5 he will be virtually valueless on the AH. I don't think enough people understand that your players are also financial assets, and unless you are making a playoff ply or fighting to stay up, buying guys in their late late 20s or 30s is throwing the investment away. If I buy a million dollar player who is 24, in 4 seasons he will still be close to valued at a mil. you buy a million dollar 30 year old, he will be worth 5k on the AH in 4 seasons, million gone. Obviously there are good reasons to buy older cheaper players, but just because he will make you a little better now doesn't mean its worth the money. Again, fighting to stay up or promote, cheap old guy to get you over the hump worth it. JMO

Yeah, I firmly believe that. That's why many managers do something called rubber-banding. If you know what it is I apologize for explaining, but it's where you build up a huge cache of cash, usually by selling off anyone worth something on the AH and demoting, getting some solid long term trainees and filling your roster with decent guys who will make you competitive in IV, but not costing more than say 50k on any fill in. Then you don't really spend the money, you build, save and train until your trainees are really good (say 23 yo?) and then you promote to III and buy 4 or 5 solid players with your cash stash and now you just catapult through III to II and maybe more, depending on the cash you save. It often works, but takes patience, like 2 years RL time maybe or nearly. (there are variations, but this is the general idea)

I tried it but got impatient and promoted before I was really ready, not enough cash. I did fill out my arena though.

Im actually not confident I'll win it this season. I feel I have a chance, but its pretty competitive.

I've never liked the way they do attendance in this game, and even though I have a filled out stadium, I cant fill parts of it even at the lowest allowable price. The fan survey thing is too fickle. Oh well, we play the game it is, not the game we wish it were.
