I bumped into the referees and complained about the officiating, but these are their replies :

1. "SaungHninPwint put more into this game than Singapore FC."
2. "Ng Huat played PG."

Cup Recap

HoopMagical showed Singapore that their team is ready for SBBL, perhaps in season 24, by defeating the lifeless Phantomech 91-74. HoopMagical G Teodor Siekaniec lead the charge with 29pts and 5 asts thrououghly outplaying G Ambrose Stimol. Longtime HoopMagical players C Arturo Palma and F Gary Bodhie owned the boards with 31 rebs, 9 of them offensive and F Arkadiusz Borys does his usual stat sheet filling of 12pts, 9asts, 4 rebs and 4 stls. While everything went right for HoopMagical, everything went wrong for Phantomech. Phantomech players looks tired and uninterested in the game. Their only bright spot was F-C Loukas Tsampaos with 16pts, 8rebs. G-F Neo Meng Lai tried to do something and scored 20pts but took 27 shots (6-27 shooting) to do that. All the other Phantomech players seems to just "go through motion", let defenders blow by them and rotated slowly. Even their home crowd seems not into the game at the 4th quarter. Phantomech's squad and coaching staff now needs to think through what went wrong and focus on the league games hopefully not making the same mistakes as before.

And in another notable matchup, PROMENADE BASKETBALL CLUB shocked Esplanade BC with a 102-91 victory. Dai Kiryu might have been extremely vocal about the failures of Ko Phyo as a U21 manager but he has kept his homegrown star a relative secret, though maybe not for long. PROMENADE BASKETBALL CLUB's G-F Mohd Syamsuri bin Ahmad was scorching hot, pouring in 37pts, 7 rebs and took over the game when his club was down by 6pts going into the 4th. Mohd Syamsuri scored 13pts in the pivotal 4th quarter and lead the upset against the elite Esplanade BC. On the defensive end, Mohd Syamsuri kept end of the bench G Paweł Łapkowski scoreless (0-10). Other notable contribution was by 31yr old vet F Chua Choon Jia. He was perfect from the field shooting 5-5, hitting his only 3pt FG as well and 8-8 from the charity stripe. Esplanade BC's F Kee Jun Siong tried his best to keep his club's cup hopes alive with 22pts and 13rebs. However, repeated misses by Paweł Łapkowski, G Michał Gruszewski and F Egon Reynaud from ill-advised 3 pointers was the key for PROMENADE BASKETBALL CLUB's 4th quarter surge. Esplanade BC might have sent his "C squad" against Dai Kiryu's team but PROMENADE BASKETBALL CLUB's players certainly wanted the victory more and scrapped through with a huge effort in the 4th.
