Was your response meant for me? I don't really understand what you're saying or what the connection is.

i just want to ask everybody

should we independently decide on a draft pick not basing on both star and potential rating,

what i meant is, if everyone agrees with me that a 5 star 5 potential guy is such a rare thing in a draft probably 1-2 or even none on every draft. but when you get him your astounded that yes his a hall of famer or a mvp but the skill sets he has aint that gonna make you wow or even say damn! this guy needs a lot of work when i see a lot of work i do mean a lot of work not just a few weeks of training to get him to proficent to get started or worst getting to respectable.

should i see no correlation to what a player is even having a 5 star and 5 potential guy, than the understanding a 5 star guy is still random that at times you can see bad skills combo with good skill level as what a 5 potential is just how far you can train the guy.

i think basing it on how you got your picks, its not always good some who got 5 and 4 wound up to have better players than the 5 and 5

hope you guys understand me,

because if its a rare gem, let it be a rare gem.

as much as we want to make this game close to reality, there is a thick line that seperates reality and a game.

as i would say, basketball team or like the nba teams dont just pick draft completely out of talent but what the teams need, an example is andrea bargnani, this guy shouldnt be a first pick but because toronto see him as a perfect fit for the team they pick him up. or another is oden.

true not all picks that are drafted top 3 are the best or can play at a top level like others but they are mainly pick due to their potential to be able to dominate, like darko, kwame brown, adam morrison etc etc ect

but this is a game, wouldnt it be that when you see and 5 star 5 potential guy its like a rare gem, i do believe that 90% of the time when your arranging your picks you would put the 5 star 5 potential guy on the very top of your choice.

if this is a bad indication then we can just ignore the fact that whatever the scout says, its all random and its all luck.

because a 5 star and 5 potential guy doesnt mean anything to even say this player is good to be a rare thing after all,

I'm thinking the same way..
just at that draft I put players with 4 stars before 5 stars.. players with 5 stars not really the best players in the draft, they just have qualities collection and that not always include the main skills.. it also can be 6-7 at Stamina or FT but very bad Defense..

Because of that I'm inclined to the statistics as far as possible.. for example C 5 stars played 32 minutes but without any rebound all the game.. that not the ultimate center with all the qualities that center needs.. so the 5 stars could be result of good Passing or anything else.. not just main skills for that position..

and I think that the big wrong of most of the people.. and as you said, there is a a lot of luck, especially luck .

but that also about what the team searchs.. if I look just for make money from the draft so of course if I got rare gem like 5 and 5 in the list so he'll be listed on the first pick.. that rare and with the money I'll buy other trainee, more fitting for my requirements and even more cheap..

but I think the main point is maybe to make the draft more clear in the future.. to rely less on luck.. I hope you understand what I mean.

I agree..I rely on stats quite a bit especially I was picking last in this past draft and I was able to pick up two players 16th overall(My 2nd choice) and 32nd overall (My 3rd choice) that can contribute right away. Both are listed as 4 stars and I didn't had potential or grading because these were the two players only scouted once.

Here are their skills:

Inside Shot: respectable Inside Def.: inept
Rebounding: respectable Shot Blocking: awful
Stamina: average Free Throw: respectable
