I'm just trying to find a way to narrow the gap IF the error was reading the information given and not that I did not have the information on the player.

You can fix this with investing more in scouting next season.

But be aware you could invest the maximum every week and still not get a single one of your picks. In my opinion, and I want to stress that, my opinion, it's a waste of money investing in scouting.

Why is that?

I think it's because if you save 30k a week. for 15 weeks you can spend 450k on a player of your choice in stead of 'risking' the draft.

You have to understand it is a lottery... do you choose lottery numbers then berate the fact the computer didnt choose the same ones as you?

Buying more lottery tickets doesnt give you the right to win the lottery...

In my opinion the average value of 3 drafts is probably worth $250k to each team. The best player may fetch 1.5mil (although there are some people trying to get much more than some 19yo Sensationally trained Allstars from last year - ha - different topic!) so if you invest 10k per week you are aiming to at least recover your money make a little profit and if you are LUCKY you can strike gold by selling on someone or keeping them to train yourself.

Keep it real... one bad draft doesnt mean the system is a waste.. just bring your expectations inline with reality - do you expect to draft three 18yo MVP just because you finish in the lower half of your table??

I think it is designed so that you don't have absolute control over the draft. If it did, then teams would deliberately finish 8th so that they could have the 1st pick.

For example, 12 teams in my league got their 1st pick. If everyone knew the top players for sure, then the teams that drafted last would be getting their 6th or 7th pick as their 1st choice.

So moving up to D.III you may want to increase your scouting to 2 or 3/week. Since you started in the middle of last season, quite a bit of your scouting would have been the minimimum amount given to all teams.

My expectations were quite low actually. I hoped to get one decent player, 18, that I could train. Got 3 x 19 yr olds that, as I think I already mentioned, best one managed a 5th place for selection on any one position. To put that further in perspecive, I've only been playing one season and I already have some crap players, so it's not like I've got a great team and that's why he only makes 5th choice.
