Classic. yeah, I tried to keep to the value of the posts, but got a lil carried away.

Simply put, yes the poor elements of HT should be viewed at from the developer level. HT can do the things it does because it's been around for atleast 10 years. You can't compare a game that has been around for 6 months to a game that has been around for 10 years.

I am not an economics major, took a class or two and slept at a Holiday inn a couple of times. There really is no right answer except trial and error. If it works, then great, we got to spend 2 days on a post that pulled some hair out, butts getting chewed on, and commentaries like mine that offer no vaule what so ever.

And the people stood up and said AMEN

I don't think it's a bad thing.

On a personal level, I really don't think it affects me as much as is intimated, as I feel I'm going to stay in the NBBA for a long time regardless of whether or not this happened.

Spending most of my money early on Arena expansion and trying to win games with my original players instead of buying players worked out really well for me, and this change doesn't really have the impact it may have other NBBA teams.

For the health of the game, I think it's necessary.

How about making a shotblock show up? How can doctors be valuable? How about defenses that create advantages on both ends of the court when they should only create them on the defensive end. There are ways to keep users plugged in other than this.

While I agree that these issues are important, it's like trying to put a band-aid on a shotgun wound. You certainly can't ignore the smaller issues entirely in favor of the bigger ones. However, you also can't get so caught up in the small stuff that you miss the big picture.

I think the BBs have done a pretty darn good job of dealing with the balancing act.

To me, I think the lack of high skilled players is one of the most important aspects that needs to be improved right now. The longer that NBBA teams are able to stay in the top division with salaries not much higher than div 3 and 4 teams the more money will accumulate at the top.

Already there is a race to get the largest arena because these teams are getting a large amount of surplus income with no star players to spend it on.

I'll assume you're kidding here. The BBs LOVE this sort of stuff. And I do, too. It means that the users care about the game and have a vested interest in it. Though I'm not a developer, I can't think of a greater reward then seeing excitement and emotion over something I've created.

And, despite what some think, the BBs do listen to the opinions of the users -- positive and negative.

My reasoning for the silver platter comment is simple. 3 months ago we heard stories from users who were able to build contenders and champions of their division from the team they got, and a change or two. I for one, won my division with a few moves. On the other side, we heard top teams complaining teams were better than what they started with. Where is the issue? Team makeup being too good.

Bottom line - When in HT have you ever heard of a user that gets a team and wins the division after playing a few games? The teams they get are bad. They get a user test because they are so bad and to prevent users from making that 100k seat upgrade, or buying that 100k player and go bankrupt.

I agree with pretty much everything you said here. These new changes are aimed at fixing these exact issues.

I think part of that is going to fix itself as these top teams (who bought all the great trainees) train these guys up to high levels, and make their own higher salaries. I imagine they will train guys as high as possible to compete in the very lucrative league that is the NBBA.

Also, I think a lot of us are focusing too much on the top teams. There are 23,000 active teams right now in about 65 countries, which equates to 1040 total teams in their country's top league. That is less than 5% of the total userbase. Obviously the 95% have far more money and economic power to shift the market than the 5%, no matter how much cash they're raking in each week.

True, combined they have more money than the top teams, but can they cough up 500k individually. Some can some can not, depends on how much they have saved.

Yea, that's why I agree with the moves the BB have made thus far. By keeping the good players from disappearing during botification this will speed up the maturation process for the game.

As a nice side effect the flooded transfer market has made prices more reasonable so that for the first time since I started half way through last season I can pick through and try to improve my team.
