Well see how many minutes a decent back up gets in an elite team. What kind of minutes are you hoping that he averages from the bench?
No idea, mate! I would like at least 11-12' per position (preferably 12-15'), meaning 20-24' for two positions in a tight game (that is, no +20 in the 4th quarter) or around 30' for three positions. I would love at least something like this for a 7-player roster:
Starter 1 (stamina 9): 37' // Backup 1 (more a PG build for example): 11'
Starter 2 (stamina 9): 36' // Backup 1: 12'
Starter 3 (stamina 9): 42' // Backup 2 (more a SF/C build for example): 6'
Starter 4 (stamina 9): 37' // Backup 2: 11'
Starter 5 (stamina 9): 38' // Backup 2: 12'
That would mean Backup 1: 23' and Backup 2: 29', for a total of 52' played between the two. In my 3 close final games in B3, the sum of the two backups was 31', 30', and 28', which means around 6' per position on average.
To sum up, IMO it wouldn't make much sense to widely implement the exhaustion changes if we do not allow backup players to play at least around 12' per position when starters have Stamina 8-9 (which is almost always in B3-NT environment).
