no i mean 1 balling all his comments in a dv iv aussie thread over the space of about 2 weeks , 1 ball a day.

0The old rating system needed to be changed, and this current system is probably a slight upgrade. But there still needs to be some way to keep the frivolous posts at bay. If you don't want to have a negative rating as an option, why not show the average rating per post instead of a cumulative number?


I agree with you, that the average rating per post is necessary. But there is no reason to abolish the cumulative number.

what does the cumulative number establish? I'd prefer either moving to a simple post count, or removing it altogether.

I do really like how individual posts are set up, because although it isn't really a product of the BB forums, a lot of other forums see many users spam by quoting and writing in +1 to posts they agree with. This is so much simpler, maybe you could identify those that +1 the posts.

I haven't read all of this so feel free to one-ball this post, oh wait...

This seems like a huge improvement, the annoying random 1 and 5 ball ratings are out. I think this will encourage people to be more positive and post more often since you'll either get positive +1 feedback or no feedback. It's not much fun to enter a highly charged debate and get hammered with 1 ball ratings just for hitting "send message".

From my experience it seems like the most negative posters are unaffected by low posting votes. My assumption is that it just makes them more negative.

If people already don't like your posts and you are negative then negative feedback is just as likely to make them worse.
