Everybody knows that on update monday it is risky to buy or sell players. So your complaint is not valid. This is something the gm's always warned us for years. Same thing goes for buying selling on the 1st week, the server cannot update fast enough the right recommended prices in order to get the market going.

Question from a new manager. Does anyone know why some players show as 18 years old, but they are not marked as Rookies? Can you play as a 17 yr old or something? Also, some 19 yr olds are marked as Rookies. Do these 19yos just lose out on a year of training?

Maybe those 18 year olds are players registered during the season so that's why they don't have the rookie sign. There are no 17 year old players in BuzzerBeater.
Regarding the second question, rookies can be 18 or 19 year olds when they are drafted, most of the 19 year old players have higher skills then the 18 year old ones.
I hope I answered both of your questions.

1. The rookie label was added to newly drafted players to show that they were newly drafted. 18 year old players without the rookie sign likely came from a newly created team.

2. Technically 19 year old marked as rookies do lose out on a year of training. However 19 year old rookies have a higher skill ceiling than 18 year olds out of the draft (meaning some of them can have higher starting skills which an 18 year old player will never have right out of the draft).

In overall, the "rookie" label was implemented because there was a period of time in the new season where the draftees are out but the entire roster hasn't updated yet. Previously if you timed it right, you could put your 18 or 19 year old trainee on sale, and some gullible users might think they are draftees and bid on them, only to find out that they accidentally overpaid for an undertrained player who wasted a season's worth of training when the roster is fully updated. So with the "rookie" label, you will know whether or not the 18 year old on sale is an actual 18 year old from the draft or if the roster just hasn't been updated yet.

Do players actually have "hidden" skills (like aggressiveness), if so could you elaborate about them? If not - any chance to see this in the future?

Yes, they have and I can only say what most already know: some of the hidden stats determine how prone to fouling players are. Others are better left a mystery ;)

Maybe you should clarify this a little more
