but I am
actively training 2 19 yo, 1 20 yo and a 23 yo (the last one out of frustration because I feel like I got cheated buying him...but luckily he's got a lot of potential to fill up). For the rest, I am considering training that 18yo that I am not convinced that he is worth that much (but I might be completely wrong as he is a 47 TSPed MVP and a SF, though fairly short)

What would a decent set of primary (what are the primary skills anyway? the skills most used by a certain position?) skill?

2 of my guards are fairly set for life but they are in their late 20s - one with 14 in OD and the other with 10
the other 3 are ...weird (and they are the ones training in ID...I know it sounds idiotic, but I want to train my C/PF - the draft didn't go as expected and drafted a PG instead of a PF) - 2 with OD at 5 (from which one has an ID of 7...) and 1 with OD at 6. But wait, are you saying that the Guards are more important in the game than the forwards?

When training older players, potential starts meaning less when they're not on track to hit that potential. You can have all the potential, but with training slowed down and not as much years left of training, you probably won't be able to fill up that potential.

As I said before, the 18yo with 47 TSP is better than the 19yo with 56 (or was it 58?). That is, assuming you can train more than the difference in the 1st year of training the 18yo. However, since you're training ID on 2 positions, you're not going to get too much pops per player (since it's about 1/3rd slower than training on 1 position).

Primary skills are the upper 6 skills for guards, and the bottom 4 skills for bigs. Guards aren't more important, but OD is the most important skill.

Got it! everything starts to make more sense now
he is 58
so you're suggesting that I'd be better off training one position only instead of focusing on 2 positions?

That's entirely up to you, wether you prefer to train 6 players at 66% (exact % not known) speed or 3 players at 100% speed. To start out, 2 position training is fine to learn about training and see a lot of progress among your players. Once you get the hang of it and want to train good players, you can switch to 1 position training.

But remember, as long as you train 2 positions (for the types that also have a 1 position version), or you're training older players who are behind on schedule, potential doesn't matter that much since you're training much slower. If you're training 2 positions, 7 potential is usually enough.

Just personal preference of mine, but I almost always do one position training. I think is more valuable to train up 3 well rounded 50k+ players and fill in the holes of your roster through the TL, than training 5-6 25k players who are all average. At the same time if you are just planning on training them when they are young and then selling 2-3 of them around 20-21 and switching to one position training later on, while making some cash along the way selling the trainees you don't want to keep, that can also be smart. Training 2-3 players is just easier to manage them minutes wise and get a clear plan on what you want to do if you are just beginning learning how to train.

not sure what those 25-50k values refer to, but I assume we are talking about salaries.
the more I read and see the replies here, the more I am inclined to switch to a 3-men training plan (the only issue is that I'd need to give up on one or potentially 2 of my "sweethearts" - I am still a tad confused on what should I keep). I am not keen on making money right now, but that's probably because I don't understand the scale of the financial output in the game

PS: Do like your footer with Denver champions (not sure it'll happen, but it is nice - that coming from an NBA noob might not mean a lot though)

Actually, I am going to put them up for debate now that 3-men training plan looms around

a 97 TSP PG at the age of 23 and potential 7 with 20 Driving and Handling, yet shitty everything else (a 14 JS and 12 IS with the rest fairly bad)

a 68 TSP PG at the age of 20 and potential 6 with most of the skills at around 8 (other than IS, which is at 2 and OD which is at 5)

a 52 TSP C at the age of 19 and potential 7 with IS, Driving, ID and SB at 8/9 and the rest...fairly bad

a 58 TSP PG at the age of 19 and potential 6 with JS, Driving, Passing and ID at 8 with the rest at 6 and under

a 47 TSP SF at the age of 18 and potential 9 with 7 in both ID and JR and well...not impressing in anything else

which 3 would you guys keep? I don't why, but I have a thing for the C, but with enough persuasion I will consider re-focusing the training around guards

Yes, salaries, you got it!

I think I'll like the footer better next year:

Murray - Harris - MPJ - Grant - Jokic NBA Champs 2021

I love Danmark by the way. I studied abroad in Eutin, Germany for 3 months and visited København for four days. It was beautiful. Nyhavn is so cool!

I am not saying that it might not happen, but I feel like it's highly unlikely (not even sure they'll make the conference finals this year...or the next, with both LA teams having all their heavy guns fully loaded and Dallas bringing the cake to the table - I mean, sure, Porter and Murray are young and they can turn into something great, but the Denver way of playing is easy to defend, even with Jokic in top shape...but that comes from a dude that started watching NBA/Basketball about a year ago). But aye, fingers crossed that at least it will be a team from the west that wins it not really a fan of anyone, but I do like watching teams like Lakers (not necessarily with Davis on), OKC or Dallas play (used to even like boring Rockets when Capela was still there)

Denmark is alright I guess it's harder to appreciate if being a part of it for so long (I am a Jutlander myself, so Copenhagen will always have a bitter taste...but it does have its nice sides). If I were to pick a dream country, it'd have to be South Korea though.
