The description says it is weighted for all the 2-point shots, but what about a 2 point jumper, let's say, close to the 3 point line? Any expert with an opinion on this?

And what about outside/inside defense? I'd assume outside defense still works in zones that are not 3 point, but still far away from the paint?

What description are you referring to?

I'm no expert, but in general you can see every shot's chance of success as a weighted sum of the many skills involved (jumpshot, jump range, inside shot, etc). Outside the 3 point line surely the IS doesn't matter at all, and it becomes increasingly important as you move towards the paint, until (presumably) being the main thing under the basket.

With defense it's the same thing. Each player's ability to defend a given shot is a combination of their OD and ID, with different weights depending on how close/far from the basket they are.

That's the kind of response I was expecting, thanks. Let's hope the game does work exactly like that.

We'll never know those weights exactly, but in games you see how it works. With your own players (since you know their skills), you see how guards with poor inside defense struggle to defend at the basket, or tend to foul more in those kinds of shots. Or big men with poor OD are vulnerable to long shots, those kinds of things. Good luck!
