Brand new player here.
What do the trainer levels refer to? I only see 6 tiers from basic to world-renowned.

The levels mentioned above (numbered) refer to the same levels you are referring to. For example:
Level
1 = minimal
Level
2 = basic
Level
3 = competent
Level
4 = advanced
Level
5 = superior
Level
6 = exceptional
Level
7 = world-renowned
So, when people refer to the Level number, it is assumed that you know what those levels mean. ie. Level 6 means an exceptional trainer.
