NEVER use it as a tool when buying players as it goes up and down radically with Game Shape.

Yes, but there is one exception: proficient (9) game shape, which does not have sublevels and is always optimal. If a trainee keeps proficient game shape week after week, growth of DMI is a sign that the training is (still) effective. (Helps with the players near the limit of their potential.)

ty, that is what I also concluded. I keep track of the DMI for my players and I've noticed that it drops for non-trainees over 25 and that drop doubles for 28-29 year old players. This is my data for the current and last week's DMI for players that had game shape 9 in both weeks:

DMI decreases for Non-trainees:
M. Mussche, age 25, went from 138400 to 138200, a decrease by -0,0015
F. Whatley, age 28, went from 108700 to 108400, a decrease by -0,0028

Though at a very slow rate, Whatley's DMI decrease is ~ x2 faster than Mussche's.

DMI for trainees is increasing at a significantly faster pace, the younger the better:
C. Fulton, age 18, from 41700 to 43800, an increase by +0,05
D. Torrats, age 19, from 57400 to 59700, an increase by +0.04

I used to track DMI weekly for tens of seasons.

Now, I simply look at each player's DMI each week and update the highest it achieves for that season. The player's GS is always 9 of course when this occurs.

I find this less onerous while still providing insights into sub training levels and the aging process.

For example, 2 of my players are 35 this season and both have over the last 3 seasons seen their highest DMI recorded for that season, drop ever so slightly. I would expect to see their DMI to drop precipitously over the next few seasons as their age becomes a greater factor.

On the other hand, I enjoy watching the seasonal rise of the highest DMI recorded for my rookies as their training progresses each season. I can also compare past rookies to current rookies to gauge how well they are training comparatively.

This is also a fun way to see how a former U21 NT player trained versus a current U21 NT player for example.

This is my method, and I find it manageable and insightful.

The DMI is just a number. While not the 'Deliberately Meaningless Index' quoted from time to time, it does, as many have noted, allow the astute trainer with a more fine-tuned analysis of player evolution or de-evolution.

That's awesome. I have a question: does the GS resets at the same sub-level for all players in the off-season (the default GS and DMI)?
