Love this idea ...

I like to see my player (24429553) to become a trainer or scout for young players. This player has been playing for my team since 18 years old. Right now, it's 19th season with my team and he's 36, so he could be difficult to find playing time next season.

I think that the scout idea is the best one. Currently, the scouters are nameless guys and don't have any impact if somebody decides to give them names. So, It will be great to see my old players being scouters and bringing new talents.

Maybe this option can apply for former draft players.

If he's a level 2 staff, maybe I want him to become a level 2 scout first.

After another 10 seasons or similar, he will become level 3 staff. Hope he will become level 5 staff before 65 years old / retirement.

Even if he's not a superstar like Tim Duncan, he's at least someone similar to Charles Oakley. He played for almost 20 seasons of basketball games, surely he should be better than level 2 staff.

Can we justify the level of staff by salary, experience (or some hidden attributes)? So, some of them could become level 4 staff directly.

I really love this idea. I've numerous players that I kept on very long (or even bought them back when they got old) in order for them to "retire" on my team. But it felt kind of wrong "firing" them ... I've unofficially named some of them head of my scouting department etc. but it would be nice to really see them still there with that new "job" under their names. And one could make it similar to those HoF-Nominations: every two season you can retire a player that has played at least 7-10 seasons for your team or something like that ...

Yes, it shouldn't impact the game but be a nice extra for those sentimentalist like us

Hope this idea will be a new BB feature next season or soon.

Maybe in the first season, this will become an option for supporters, so give it a try and give an honour to old players as scouts for BB teams.

After that, BB could review and implement this feature to all BB managers, so old players will become scout, doctor, trainer or PR manager.

I like this thread. I play other games and it's fun to keep the old ones longer than they're useful.

If the scout concept doesn't roll, what about this:

An oldie can be retired, but stay on as an advisor. I'm thinking a PR advisor, which has minimal cost, and a tiny gate benefit. The advisor can be paid according to a formula that is based off experience. The gate boost can be a fixed amount of some kind. It should be a small benefit. Both of these could be linked to the players highest ever rating/tournament wins etc.

If more theme is needed, you could make it compulsory for the retiree to be a hall of fame member (for your team?).

Yes I get that.
I'm suggesting a minimal payment, a few dollars a week, and a minimal gate boost that slightly outweighs the payment.
Or even forget the payment and just give the gate boost.
Basically something that every team would want, albeit minimal.
