By free agents I mean the players who's team is Retired.

Why do I think this is important

Currently it seems that their price equals 10x amount of their salary. Which is fine for a player that is a worthy inclusion for top 4000 teams. His value usualy outweights his starting price.

But when we are talking about 55-80 tsp free agents their starting price is about 30-50x times what their market value is worth. And this in my opinion is making life a lot harder for new managers. Cause those players would be a nice asset for them, especially those that are generated for new teams(star players). Star players have decent amount of tsp and what i find most interesting is that they can have a ridiculous amount of experience. Something about 72 tsp player having 17 experience just makes me very happy.

What do I propose

Lower starting bid for a free agent to a minimum. Those who are worth something will find a new team. And those who are useless will retire regardless of their price. My guess is that this change will increase retention for new players.

I could see something being applied as an incremental thing, but I somewhat agree. Keep the cap at 500k, and maybe do something based around player salary…

0-5k, start auction at 2x player salary
5001-10k, start auction at 3x player salary
10001-15k, start auction at 5x player salary
15001-25k, start auction at 7.5x player salary
25001-50k, start auction at 10x player salary
50001-99999, start auction at 500k
100k+, start auction at salary

Something like that, perhaps?

There are already many 55-80 TSP players available (especially with the increase in 19y rookies), they are extremely cheap to buy. Having the 10x salary starting price removes some of the excess from the game.

See my opinion is that it does nothing for removing the excess. I literraly don't see how it helps, cause how i said trully useless players will retire regardless of their price. I've tried to sell useless crap multiple times for a 1k, and got no bids for it.

And generated star players are better than rookies cause you can use them to fill the positions that you will not train and they will preform better in the clutch because of the experience. And that allows new managers to be more competitive on a lesser budget while they are building their economy for the first few seasons.

Yep, I think that could work. Although i would definitely make the first increment between 0-15k to help new managers fill their roster.

The flat 10x amount doesn't really work. In my opinion, age should be taken into account when pricing free agents. Youngsters should be more expensive than they currently are (however, this could be corrected by the market itself), but older dudes definitely should be progressively cheaper.

That's a nice suggestion. I've often seen some guys retire that I could really have used if they'd been half the price instead of that 10x salary. But it was still a shame that they had to retire ... with your suggestion, I guess the prices might be more realistic and closer to the market ...

A 25yo with 95k salary being sold for 500k can be quite a bargain, whereas the 33+yo version of this player is somewhat unlikely to find a buyer at 500k... age is such an important factor and I can't see why is not taken into consideration in this matter.

I think if the price was based on a "Transfer Price Estimate" that would solve your concern. And for those who doesn't have it we could go for some kind of salary coefficient.

Again, I really don't get why free agents are not so "free". To me there is no correlation between their price and removing the excess or whatever. All I see is that trainers are overspending on a free agents out of pity or some other feeling. And on top of that their money just dissapear from the economy.

Look at staff for example. Bids are always starting from a 1000$ and yet transfer steals is quite rare, espisially with auto-bid. And there is also staff with way too big of a salary that gets no bids at all.

Just apply the same rules to free agents. Autobid is a gurantee that nothing out of ordinary will happen.
