Press Announcements

Good Times Bad Times...

First match down, and... well... it wasn't pretty. That said, even tho' the reality was that it was highly unlikely that we were going to win this game (this season at least), it provided some useful information.
* Our key guys were - for the most part - exactly who I expected them to be. Hutton played well at the anchor, as did Hanson playing point. But Mickey Marshall was a pleasant surprise, as was the play of Gibbs at power forward. Marshall exceeded what I expected him to do, and the same with Gibbs (given his dropping GS). Game ball goes to Marshall!
* We're thin at both the point and especially at the small forward slot. If anyone has ambitions about making the U21 side in the future, this is where we appear to be weakest (moving forward as well!!!).
* We're young. Only 3 of our roster are at 21. But those three are counted amongst our better players. I'd recommend those with U21 players to be doing single position training to quickly advance those players. This is even more an imperative for those with players aged 18-20 (and I'll list the 18 year olds later).

The TIE helps us moving forward, but unfortunately I think we can expect a few more games like this.

Other results in our pool of teams:
* #70 Crna Gora def #28 Latvija 89 - 80
* #41 Belgium def 96 Malta 52 - 91
* #43 Schweiz def #13 Magyarország 106 - 105
Some upsets there, it would seem some of the lower ranked teams aren't as weak as they are ranked, and some of the higher not as strong. How accurate is this assessment? It's still a lil' too early to say.

18 year olds being watched...
Robert Bradley, PF (Wu Tang Clan, CBBL)
Paul Burridge, PF (Newport City, CBBL)
Mark Deane, SG (Chirk Herwr, CBBL)
Jaime Shiells, PG (Caterham Clippers, CBBL)
Amren Stephens, SF (ROW Rybnik, Poland div. V.17)

As stated earlier, if those players could be single position trained, it will definitely boost their chances of making the U21 squad sooner, rather than later (and I have slots available for guys that do just that).

Depth Chart...
I'll post a depth chart at the end of this week, when GS changes.

Thanks noodles - I often check out the TL... I have a guy in the JBBL (Japan's top league) who said he'd train an SF for us too, should one be available.
I'll keep you posted should I see anything!
